This Week at Pareto Education
A milestone worth sharing..

We rarely talk about ourselves in this newsletter, but I can’t help myself this week.
For those who have followed our journey and there are many of you, you’ve probably seen us evolve from delivering individual educational sessions to developing comprehensive CPD programmes for clinicians across primary care.
Last week marked an important milestone in that journey.
We organised and delivered our first multidisciplinary conference, Prescribing & Clinical Updates in Contemporary General Practice, bringing together clinicians from across West Yorkshire and beyond.

Our aim was simple: to create a high-quality educational event that brought together primary care clinicians, specialist speakers and healthcare professionals from across the multidisciplinary team to share knowledge, discuss real-world challenges and ultimately improve patient care.
More than just guideline updates
The conference focused on high-impact areas of chronic disease management, with expert-led sessions covering:
- Cardiovascular disease prevention and contemporary lipid management
- Diabetes and cardiometabolic health
- Asthma management and the expanding role of biologic therapies
- Gastroenterology, including the growing burden of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)
- Practical prescribing updates relevant to modern general practice

While the clinical content was central to the day, one of our key objectives was to create meaningful conversations between primary and secondary care.
We wanted consultants to share not only the latest evidence, but also practical insights into how we can work more effectively together across the primary-secondary care interface.
One discussion that particularly resonated explored the relationship between gastroenterology and dietetics in the management of MASLD. It was a timely reminder that improving outcomes isn’t simply about diagnosing disease or prescribing medication—it’s about ensuring patients receive coordinated, multidisciplinary care with the right expertise at the right time.
That spirit of collaboration continued throughout the day.
Questions flowed after every session, conversations continued over coffee, and clinicians from different professions shared perspectives that simply wouldn’t have happened through a webinar alone.
The value of being in the room
One of the biggest takeaways from the day had very little to do with the presentations themselves.
In an era where almost every educational event can be delivered online, we were reminded why face-to-face learning still has such an important place.
Throughout the day, clinicians connected in a way that simply isn’t possible through a screen. Conversations started in the lecture theatre and continued over coffee. GPs exchanged ideas with consultants. Pharmacists spoke with dietitians. Advanced practitioners discussed shared challenges with colleagues from across the region.
We also had the opportunity to meet organisations working across education, workforce development, clinician wellbeing and service transformation. It was encouraging to see so many people committed to supporting the healthcare workforce not just through clinical education, but by developing the systems and partnerships that enable better patient care.

Those conversations reinforced something we’ve believed for a long time: great CPD isn’t just about delivering evidence. It’s about creating an environment where clinicians can share experiences, challenge perspectives, build professional relationships and leave with practical ideas they can take back into practice.
For us, that is exactly what a successful conference should achieve.
Looking ahead
This conference isn’t the finish line… it’s another step in our journey!
Healthcare continues to evolve at pace, and clinicians deserve educational opportunities that are practical, evidence-based and directly relevant to everyday practice.
Over the coming months we’ll continue to expand our portfolio of CPD courses, focusing on high-impact clinical topics that matter most to frontline clinicians.

We’re also already planning future conferences that will continue to bring together experts from primary and secondary care, creating opportunities to learn, collaborate and ultimately improve patient care.
To everyone who has supported Pareto Education so far, whether you’ve attended a course, shared our content, partnered with us or simply encouraged us along the way—thank you.
We’re excited about what’s next.
Until next time..
CPD Chronic Disease Update
If you spend a large part of your day managing asthma, diabetes, hypertension or multimorbidity, our Chronic Diseases Masterclass is designed with you in mind. This practical, one-day online course brings together the latest evidence, guideline updates and real-world case discussions to help clinicians manage the conditions that account for much of modern healthcare. We’ll cover everything from asthma and COPD to CKD, heart failure and severe mental illness, alongside the new NG28 diabetes guidance and the challenges of polypharmacy and multimorbidity.

Whether you’re looking to refresh your knowledge or build confidence managing increasingly complex patients, this CPD-accredited masterclass will provide plenty of practical pearls that you can apply in clinic the very next day. A recording is included, so you can revisit the content whenever you need.
Are We Medicalising Normal Life?
In this thought-provoking video, we explore the growing trend of overmedicalisation and ask when normal human experiences become medical conditions. From ADHD and menopause to testosterone deficiency and GLP-1 therapies, we discuss the changing boundaries of disease, the rise of risk-based medicine, and how clinicians can balance early intervention with appropriate, patient-centred care.
